KIngs Cross and Moorgate closed this weekend

There will be no national rail service this weekend, 13 January and 1 February from either Kings Cross or Moorgate stations due to upgrade work by Network Rail.

This was the email I received:

On Saturday 31 January and Sunday 1 February, there will be no national rail services from London King's Cross or Moorgate stations. This is due to Network Rail upgrade works.

Allow longer for your journey, as alternative routes may involve replacement bus services.

For detailed travel advice, visit the National Rail website.

It would be useful if TfL linked to the correct National Rail web page on their e-mail, but they don't.- https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/engineering-works/london-kings-cross-31-jan-20260131/

LNER are terminating at Peterborough with buses to Bedford for East Midlands Trains and Thameslink to St Pancras and central London
Lumo are not operating between Newcastle and London
Grand Central are not operating at all
Hull Trains are diverting into St Pancras

For local stations between Peterborough and Kings Cross/Moorgate a succession of rail replacement bus services are running as far south as Alexandra Palace.

From Alexandra Palace, Hornsey, Harringay, Finsbury Park, Drayton Park, Highbury and Islington, Essex Road and Old Street paper ticket holders from outside the contactless area can use TfL bus services.

Rail Replacement buses are also running from Stevenage & Hitchin to Luton Airport Parkway and Stevenage & Welwyn Garden City to St Albans City for EMR/Thameslink trains, also from Potters Bar to Cockfosters for the northern line tube.

For anyone with flexible (not Advance) tickets-
From York and Doncaster alternative all rail routes to St Pancras exist via Sheffield
From Newark (and Lincoln), Retford and Grantham alternative all rail routes to St Pancras exist via Nottingham
From Peterborough an alternative all rail route is via Cambridge into London Liverpool Street

Saturday 7 February- The trains which do run on 7 February are subject to significant disruption. The Overhead Electrification came down this afternoon (Friday 6 February) between Doncaster and York.
This led to many trains being cancelled, and others running between 200 and 280 minutes late. Consequently trains and crew will be out of position, and possibly out of hours for Saturday, so check before travelling and consider alternative routes and operators if required to complete your journey.
Also many people unable to travel on Friday will be travelling on Saturday adding to pressure on services, so services which do run (if the problem is rectified) can be expected to be extremely busy.
