Bob;
Thank you for posting this information. My daughter and I will be in London this November and I think we'll plan on going. I saw the exhibit when it came to Seattle in 1976!

I saw the exhibit in Minneapolis years ago and it was fantastic. I've heard there're even more items in this new exhibit so I would recommend to go if you can.

EDIT It was actually in Denver where I saw the exhibit.

"Years ago" may refer to one of several King Tut exhibitions -- I saw one in San Francisco in the 1980's, another around 2010, and a third at LA County Science Museum within the last 5 years. Each was different, each worth seeing.

I think you mean the Field Museum in Chicago. Is your memory mixing up Picasso with Tut?

Uh, no. I thought I saw an exhibit at MIA before I left Minnesota but I was mistaken, it was in 2010 in Denver that I saw it.

I too saw an exhibit in Orange County, CA in the 1970s and again in LA and at the Cairo Museum in Egypt! Go! I’m sure it will be amazing!

Tut's artifacts tour almost as often as the Rolling Stones, who are nearly as old (Keith might be older) but still around to collect the royalties. Tut and the various Impressionist stars are the visual arts' contribution to modern showbiz. Which means, aside from their visual importance, lots of fun.

You made me smile with this comparison, how true. But I do think that will not be the case too much longer. Now that the museum in Cairo is going to have the artifacts (or at least the most impressive of them) on exhibit in a new venue, I read that they won't be touring like they have been. Just in case that's true, it would behoove anyone who wants to see them in London to do so, unless they are planning to visit Egypt.

Nancy, there was a Tut exhibit here in St. Paul in 2011 but at the Science Museum and not Mpls. MIA:

So think again? Maybe you weren't mistaken! :O)

Nancy, you could have seen that exhibit in St Paul.

Actually I knew about the exhibit at the Science Museum in St Paul, but I had already moved to Colorado by then and didn't visit Minnesota in 2011. The exhibit I saw was at the Denver Art Museum when I was living there. I just thought I had seen some artifacts on exhibit at the MIA back in the 80's or 90's - maybe it wasn't a full on exhibit that I'm thinking of. I have visited the Field Museum in Chicago but not around the time the exhibit was there.
