King's College Nine Lessons and Carols

Every year I listen to the service of Nine Lessons and Carols from King's College, Cambridge. I doubt I'll ever get the chance to attend in person, but would love to. Anyone who has attended, what was it like? How early did you have to queue?

If I remember correctly, the 2020 broadcast was the rehearsal because Covid restrictions prevented the service from being held on Christmas Eve. This year it sounds like it's the usual full congregation along with the choir and readers.

We attended the Lessons and Carols at Westminster Abbey two years ago today, Christmas Eve, around 4pm.
Tickets are released in batches in October. A family member and I were on our computers clicking away, me in western US, family member in London. She hit the jackpot and got 4 tickets for our family.
It is such a special memory. The Boys’ Choir voices were magical. Try to attend one of these lovely services if you are in the UK.

There was a live stream of York Minster’s ‘Lessons and Carols’ service today - Christmas Eve - and it is up on You Tube for the next 30 days (well beyond Twelfth Night!) for those who missed it. A link in the YT description takes you to an Order of Service you can print out beforehand so you can follow, join in, sing along or pretend to be the Archbishop of York.

I think a similar service from St. Martins in the Field, London is also available.

Merry Christmas everybody! Stay well!

In 2014 we went to the service at Westminster Abbey, which was also done on the 23rd. I had to be up very early in the morning to be online when tickets first became available and it was definitely worth it! Thanks Lana and Julie-I will watch that one this year.

Thanks for the York Minster info as well as St. Martin in the Field! The one time I went to York, the minster tower was closed for repairs or renovations.

My thanks for the York Minster information as well. I have it on and listen to a carol between chores, lol....shoveling snow, doing dinner prep, etc! Makes a nice break. I love that they have the order of service as well.
