Historian Michael Wood has a BBC documentary from 2010, The Story of England. Rather than run through the usual list of battles and monarchs, he tells the story of England by telling the story of the small town of Kibworth. From pre-Roman times to today, the town's experiences have been emblematic of the country's. Really interesting stuff.
I've been a Michael Wood fan for over forty years , and this was certainly a great series . If you are interested , another of his works that I think you would find riveting , is " In Search of Shakespeare " Available on Amazon , but here is a little provocative taste - https://youtu.be/VXSjVxXiG-I
I forgot about the Shakespeare doc. I'll have to check it out. Thanks.
Thanks for the tip. In Search of Shakespeare is available in our library system and we’ll be checking it out. I’m new to Amazon Prime and not sure I’m looking in the right places, but it appears the DVD is available for sale but not included among free offerings to watch. On a different note, In Search of Mozart is a free option.
