Hello! We are going on our honeymoon in July and are looking at two hotels in London. One is in Kensington/Earls Court and the other in Notting Hill near Padington Station. We are a young couple looking to tackle London in 2.5 days but enjoy going out for walks and dinners at night near the hotel. Any suggestions?
Thank you!!
Both areas you mention are nice and convient to the underground.
We have stayed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, South Kensington, a number of times. It is part of the IHG Hotel Group (Holiday Inn, Intercontinental, etc., etc.) This hotel is in a beautiful area and is a lovely hotel. They offer two computers, for free use, adjacent to their lobby. It is directly across the street from the Gloucester Tube station. It is a short walking to Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. It is one Tube stop away from Knightsbridge Tube stop for Harrod's.
Kensington is very nice but if I were choosing between there and Notting Hill, I'd choose Notting Hill any time. The neighborhood, to me, is more interesting, has more eclectic eateries and shops, and it's a little less "grand" than Kensington. It's a comfortable, easy-going place to spend time out of the hustle of the more central, touristy areas of London. If you are on the youngish side, as it sounds like you are, it would probably be a better fit. Enjoy your time in London!
