Just 1 day in London - recommendations please

We are a trio of seniors with some walking limitations. We have just 1 full day in London in early November as we layover for our return to the States.
Could you please recommend an activity or two - including restaurants - that are 'must see/do'?
Thanks!

Pick one place you both really want to visit and really spend time there whether it be the National Gallery, the British Museum, Westminster Abbey, the Wallace Collection….

I don’t believe in a generic “must see/must do”. You three peruse travel books or websites and see what really piques your interest!

As others mentioned, what are your interests? What kind of food do you like?

With one day and the "walking limitations" you reference, it might make sense to try to stay in one general area. You could very easily see Westminster Abbey, Parliament & Big Ben, Buckingham Palace (I'd skip the tour given your short time), and the Churchill War Rooms (an amazing museum) in one day, and find a pub in the area for a meal.

Obviously with just one day, this is only the tip of the iceberg, but that would be my recommendation for that duration. And reserve the War Rooms in advance.

I went to both National Gallery and V and M

Both have many, many places to comfortably sit and both have very nice cafes

Depends on the main interests of your group, but I like Steve's recommendations a lot...I must say that on my 5 trips to London the one place I visit every time is the Tower of London...not just because I am crazy about the ravens, but it's probably the most unique and fascinating place and I never tire of exploring it, plus there are the Crown Jewels, and the excellent Yeoman Warder tours. Great cafe, too. If I only had 1 day there, having seen the major tourist sites already I can say that spending the morning at the Tower and then over to Westminster Abbey and maybe the Churchill War Rooms would make me very happy indeed.

We are a friendly group we RS Forum posters but we are not mind readers. Thus answering your request without knowing your collective interests would be fruitless.

Whats the budget?

You could dine at Rules and spend a fortune. OR eat at any one of these chain restaurants: Nandos, Five Guys, Dishoom, Franco Mancha, or Wagamama.

OR walk into a gorgeous pub like The Bank Of England and order some pub grub. You’ll find soups and stews as well as burgers, pastas, steak and ale pies, lamb shanks and vegetarian options to choose from.

As I’ve noted previously I still dream of the Pumpkin and Sage soup I had at the Dove pub in Hammersmith.

If you are tech savy you can look at menus online.

You asked for recommendations:

Harrod’s Food Hall
Seven Dials Market
Mercato Mayfair.

Lastly, definitely visit Parliament Square which consists of the Parliament building with Elizabeth’s Tower ( Big Ben is the bell ) and Westminster Abbey. If you arrive on the hour you should hear Big Ben toll.

Nearby is the Churchill War Rooms which has timed entry. The Horse Guards Parade is adjacent and if you time it right you can see the Horse Guards leave the Parade to be escorted up to the Palace for the daily Changing of the Guard ceremony.

Great city. Too bad you don’t have more time to appreciate it.

Also need to know if this is your first or 10th visit, and what sorts of things you want to see. Perhaps a Hop on Hop off bus would cover a lot of ground in your case

Do not waste your one precious day on a hop on hop off bus mired in London traffic.
Pick your top site and go see it.

I loved London.

After spending 6 days there, and also with walking limitations, I would suggest a day tour if it fits within your budget and something that interests you.
