January Anniversary in Cotwolds

My husband & I currently live in SE England and have our 10 year wedding anniversary coming up in January. We are thinking of a long weekend getaway to Cotswolds. Trick is we will need to bring our 3 young kids along (we live here as Expats and no family around to keep them). So any suggestions of good places to stay for the 5 of us? We want something a little nicer since it's our anniversary. And things to do in the area in Jan? Thank you!!

As someone who has a birthday in late November, I am not optimistic about staying away for a celebration at that time of year, as the weather can be pretty miserable.

However, my wife had a significant birthday in October last year and we spent a successful weekend with our children and grandchildren at the Cotswold Water Park Hotel a few miles south of Cirencester (https://www.phcompany.com/de-vere/cotswold-water-park-hotel). It is a popular venue for weddings and similar celebrations and has many facilities. It is a real hotel without too much formality and they do have family accommodation to suit those with children. It is just off the main road from Swindon to Cirencester and is not far from the hilly and picturesque part of the Cotswolds. The hotel is modern, rather than quaint.

You could be lucky with the weather or there could be snow, as I am sure you are aware. It's not the best time to visit the Cotswolds, which are far prettier when there is some colour in the gardens.

With three young children to entertain, I would consider a trip to Center Parcs, as there are plenty of activities for all, indoors and out plus several dining options. There are three in the southern part of England to consider. Longleat or Woburn would allow you to visit the safari park and the house at Woburn respectively.
