itinerary help Cotswolds to Oxford

Hi everyone. We will have a car for 4 days in the Cotswolds and return it in Oxford before visiting the city for the day, then travel to London by train late afternoon.. The last day we'll have the car we'll visit Blenheim Palace. Does it make more sense to stay in Woodstock that night or head back to the Cotswolds, driving to Oxford the next day? Thanks.

The Cotswolds covers nearly 800 sq miles and Blenheim forms its eastern edge so where were you planning on heading back to?

We used Chipping Campden as our base for six nights to visit the Cotswolds. We visited Stratford Upon Avon, Blenheim Palace, Oxford and also spent a couple of days to see most of the towns and villages of the Cotswolds.

Rick Steves guide for Great Britain has a good suggested plan for a day to see from Cirencester to Broadway.

We could have squeezed it all into five nights (four full days). Also, since you will visit Oxford, you can do that after you do the Cotswolds. Blenheim Palace is closer to Oxford than Chipping Campden, so you might consider staying closer to Oxford on your final day.

Oxford had little parking, so we took the train into Oxford and back instead of driving.

Yes, staying in Woodstock would be great, it’s only ten miles from Oxford. Other villages in the Cotswolds area are 30-40 miles from Oxford.
