would like to see countryside more than hussle of London. looking for must sees in driving from Bath to lake district back to London.
also cozy and comfortable places to sleepand eat.
Mahalo!!
The triangle you're describing involves about 600 miles of driving, more if you take the scenic roads or stop anywhere off the direct routes. Via Michelin can help you plan this trip, which will involve at least five hours of driving on each of the first and third days, giving you one full day to explore the Lake District. You'll have very little time for sightseeing on the way north or south.
If you go to Keswick, I can recommend Badgers Wood Guest House near the center of town, which is also recommended in the RS guidebook. There are other good places there and in the area. But I'd urge you to rethink this itinerary and spend your valuable time closer to Bath. I don't know how Bath figures in your total trip, but there's countryside in all directions -- Wales, the Cotswolds, Devon and Cornwall, just to name a few -- where you could spend the time experiencing villages, scenery, and cozy and comfortable places to sleep and eat without spending most of two days charging up and down motorways.
thanks Dick! I see now that I was a bit too ambitious!

As Dick says, the Lake District is a long way from Bath and other scenic areas are much closer to Bath - & for getting back to London.
Consider exploring the Cotswolds by travelling NE from Bath to Tetbury > Cirencester and Bourton-on-the-Water. Throw in all the other villages in this area = Lower Slaughter, Broadway, Snowshill, Chipping Campden, Hidcote Gardens. etc. You could even go to Stratford-upon-Avon and / or Blenheim Palace near Oxford. You would then be well positioned for getting back to Heathrow.
I liked the Lake District. I stayed in Keswick at the Bramblewood Guest Cottage run by Steph and Steve. Very clean, right on the river with great breakfasts. There is much to see in the Lake District. I did the Cat Bell walk (very scenic) as well as went to the Aria Waterfall. I also took a side trip to see Hadrian Wall. I would spend two days there. I also loved Bath. There is also great scenery. Go on the Mad Max tour to Stonehenge. You will also get to see the Cotwolds as well as other stone circles. The city of Bath also has history. Have you ever thought of renting a car for the Lake District and then taking a train (still get to see the scenery) down to Bath and renting a car there?
