Hi all,
We are in the early stages of planning for a trip to England next summer. It will be six adults and one child (9). I've come up with the following itinerary and was looking for validation or suggestions, or critiques. We have been to and driven in Ireland (x2) and Scotland (x1) so are not afraid of renting a car for the trip and driving outside of London. No plans to drive in London. Here is my plan so far:
Day 1 Early morning arrival at LHR. Make our way to a hotel and do Tower of London in the afternoon and maybe a Thames River cruise. Overnight in London.
Day 2 Visit Westminster and Churchill War rooms. If time allows, maybe The British museum, depending on how we feel. Overnight in London.
Day 3 Pick up a rental (probably at Heathrow) and head toward Bath. Would like to stop at Highclere and Stonehenge on the way. Late afternoon arrival in Bath.
Day 4 Roman Baths, Royal Crescent, explore Bath. Stay in Bath.
Day 5 Drive towards Cornwall. Stay somewhere in Cornwall or Devon.
Day 6 Tintagel Castle and Port Isaac, stay in same place as previous night.
Day 7 Drive to Cotswolds. Stay in Cotswolds. (This will be the longest driving day)
Day 8 Explore Cotswolds including Stow-on-the Wold, Slaughters and Bourton on the Water. Maybe Bibury, if time and energy.
Day 9 Head back to London, Visit Blenheim on the way to London. Drop rental and stay at a hotel near LHR.
Day 10 Flight home.
I know it varies with different people, age, interests, etc. but does this seem too much or doable? Would love over suggestions.
Thank you,
jb
