Issues with TFL (Tube) website

I'm trying to set up a contactless account on the website for the Tube, but each time I click on create a new account I get a new page saying:
Request blocked
Sorry, your request was blocked by our automated security systems.

I've tried on my phone and on two different computers. Anyone else having these issues?

Are you doing this outside of the UK because TfL geoblocks the site.

VPN with UK presence. Although it isn't critical to set up an account in advance - cards work without one.

Got it, thanks. I'm assuming the price cap still works without setting up an account or getting an Oyster card?

I have an account. The only way for me to access it is if I am in the UK or use a VPN showing I am in the UK.

But as others have said, you don't really need one. I set it up years ago basically to remind me how much I had on my Oyster Card. I've been using the same card for years. (And I spend 3-4 months in the UK every year.)

But, I'm soon getting a Samsung Watch and if I can use the contactless feature on that I'll say bye bye to the card. (Once I use up the funds, of course.)
