Isango for a tour? (Stonehenge, in this case)

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone has any current experiences booking with Isango. I have been researching and researching the most cost effective way to visit Stonehenge (there are 3 of us - two teens). Tours from London seems to be cheaper than "do-it-yourself" train trips to Salisbury. We have considered Stonehenge only and Stonehenge combined with Windsor/Oxford. Isango is advertising tour rates at a decent discount from what I am finding with Evans Evans and Premium Tours.

I would love to hear if anyone has any experience with Isango. Or, thoughts on getting to Stonehenge.

Thanks!

I have never heard of Isango. From what you say in your post it sounds like they are a middleman.

I, personally, avoid middlemen whenever I can. That way there's no passing the buck around in a circle if something goes wrong.

Evan Evans has a good reputation.

Thanks, Nigel. I think you are right about Isango being a third-party. Avoiding a middleman is probably a good idea. I appreciate the recommendation of Evans Evans.

I have looked at this bus route from Salisbury and will do it in Sept when I visit, so I don't have experience with it. I am going to spend 2 nights in Salisbury, which I am guessing you would not want to do. I like this bus route because seemingly you do not need a reserved time for Stonehenge if you buy your entry ticket with the bus ticket and the bus also stops at Old Sarum which I am interested in seeing.

The train fare to Salisbury seems high compared to train fare to Bath where you seem to be able to get some deals on advanced fare tickets. I've check the Salisbury fares and the off peak seems to be around 38.50£ but it also seems to be the same price to add a return journey onto it. Nigel would be able to say if this is correct or if I am doing something wrong (quite possible, lol!).

Thank you, Pam. Unfortunately we will not have enough time to spend a night in Salisbury. I do appreciate the info, though.
