Is there smoking in UK restaurants & pubs?

I'm planning a trip for next summer, but cannot be where there is cigarette smoke. Do they still allow smoking in restaurants and pubs in the UK? Thanks!

Just be aware that outside there will be lots of smokers, and when the doors/windows are open, a lot of that smoke goes inside.

No smoking in pubs -- but dogs are welcome. Well-behaved, usually, and even friendly. Or at least they are out in the country, where dogs and farming go together.

Not many of the dogs smoke though, except in the very rural areas of Somerset.

I like the dogs in pubs. In many cases, much better behaved than kids in fancy restaurants. It was fun to watch the 3 basset hounds someone brought with them trace every move I made with my fork while I was eating roast. They were hoping I would drop enough for them. :-)

Nigel, the link is to a dog smoking.
