Finalizing plans to a trip to London this Christmas. Is it worth visiting Windsor Castle? Will there be Christmas decor?
Definitely. England knows how to celebrate Christmas. For more information, see here: https://www.rct.uk/event/christmas-at-windsor-castle-11-2023#/
Yes.
As Mardee pointed out Christmas in London is great fun.
You should also visit WinterWonderland at Kew Gardens. Get your tix NOW.
See the lights on Oxford and Regent streets. Wander about Harrods, Liberty and Spitalfields.
If anyone ice skates research where rinks will be. I suspect Somerset House will have one.
See if a Christmas panto is being performed. Check for charity Santa Runs. Check for choral performances. See if the Eel Pie Island artist enclave is having an open house.
Lastly be forewarned that the Underground and Overground trains and busses do not run on Christmas day.
For me the perfect day to explore on foot. A number of parks to enjoy that day to people watch. People out wearing new hats, gloves, scarves and winter coats.
You will not starve although hours at cafes, restaurants and pubs will be limited. I also liked watching the taped Queen’s Speech on the TV.
Imagine King Charles will record a Christmas message at well.
Love London at Christmas time!
My last time visiting Windsor castle was in December 2019. Yes, there were decorations at both the castle and in town.
Like Claudia, I too thoroughly enjoy London that time of year. Covent Garden is nice, as are the lights along Regent and Oxford streets (and others), Carnaby St. and Liberty London, as well as Selfridges and Fortnum and Mason for their displays.
I sure hope so, since my friends and I are visiting in December!
