Renting a car and we need an automatic, and it says it is also diesel. Will this be an issue? (Is there diesel at all the gas stations?) Thank you!
I've never seen a petrol station that didn't have a diesel pump anywhere in England.
Yep. A lot of diesel vehicles are running there. When in Ireland a month ago, diesel was a out $6 per gallon. Our Renault SUV got about 50 mpg and it was quiet and quick.
Diesel is as common as petrol in the UK. Petrol stations will have both.
Gas (=LPG = Liquified petroleum gas) is relatively rare.
Current fuels prices are here: https://www.theaa.com/driving-advice/driving-costs/fuel-prices
5 June 2018. Unleaded 125.5 p/litre. Diesel 128.3 p/litre.
Ditto the other responses. There are few stations that don’t have diesel since the majority of cars seem to use it.
Awesome! Thank you so much!! :)
also note that Diesel is far more efficient so gets many more miles per litre (all motor fuel is sold in litres everywhere but certain North American countries) than petrol. It far outweighs the slightly higher price at the pump.
My diesel Civic (manual) gets about 500-700 miles per fill up. And goes like a dream.
and note that apparently (according to my Brother who is visiting from the US) the colours are reversed from those in the US. Diesel hoses and handles are black here, and unleaded 95 hoses and handles are green. There are other variations elsewhere in Europe, such as French normal diesel hoses are sometimes yellow, but you won't see yellow hoses in the UK.
