Ireland to England: Best routes, Cheapest/Fastest? (Cities include London, York, Liverpool)

After traveling around Ireland, my last stop will be Limerick. From Limerick I'm planning on going to England and doing some traveling there. My first plan was:
London (4 days) --> York (1.5 days) --> Liverpool (N/A) --> London (1 or 2 days) to fly back home.
So fly from Shannon Airport (because it's closest to Limerick) to Heathrow (I'll be staying near Soho in London).
Get on a train to York and then to Liverpool, then back to London.

But after asking on another forum, people told me don't do Shannon to Heathrow. Instead, take a bus from Limerick to Dublin and then go to Liverpool --> York --> and stay in London last. OR Take a plane from Shannon to Manchester and bus to Liverpool.

Everyone seemed to be against my initial plan of seeing London first.
What do you guys think?

This will be in March and I haven't reserved places to stay or anything yet

I would agree with the ferry from Dublin to Liverpool. From there you can travel to York by train and then move on down to London. It's the most logical route and avoids splitting London into two trips which should save money on travel and potentially accommodation.

Definitely go to Liverpool first. Probably most convenient to fly from Shannon to Manchester and it's only about an hour on the train from there.

To maximize your time:

Fly from Shannon to Manchester
Train from Manchester Airport to Liverpool (no changes)
Train from Liverpool to York (no changes)
Train from York to London.

If you go really want to go to London first, fly from Shannon to London
Train from London to Liverpool
Train from Liverpool to York
Train back to London

There is no need to go to Dublin unless you really want to take the ferry. But realize the whole trip from Limerick to Dublin to Holyhead to Liverpool will take up a full day.
