Iphone 5/6 (nano sim in London)

I heard that getting A nano SIM for an unlocked smartphone could be difficult. But I'm assuming in London they would be readily available. Has anybody gotten a nano Sim for their iPhone (five or six) at the carphone warehouse? Also, does anyone happen to know if you can purchase a SIM that will also work in Paris?

Cheers!

Can't you just unlock your phone here and purchase a callling or calling/data plan before you leave? That's what I did and
continued on from London to Berlin, Prague and Vienna. I used free Wifi at the airports, hotels, and a couple of cafes. It only cost $29.99 from Verizon and prorated from monthly fee.

I'll have to look into that. I did call Verizon, but they said it would be $50 for 100 MB and very steep fees if I went over the 100MB

Not that I'm necessarily recommending it, but it is possible to cut down a standard/micro SIM to nano-SIM size, using a specialized tool or an ordinary pair of scissors. I mistakenly bought micro-SIMs for our iPhones in advance of our recent Czech trip, and -- since I had nothing to lose at that point -- carefully trimmed them down to fit. They worked fine. You will have to actually cut into the metal contacts, and be conservative -- you can always trim more if it's too big. See this link.

When I got a new 4G SIM for my new iPhone 5, the SIM itself was stamped for all 3 SIM sizes, and you just used the bit you needed, and removed, just with your fingers, the bits you didn't. If you get it wrong, SIM adaptor kits, to make any SIM fit any size SIM slot are widely available for about £4. I'd be surprised if getting a nano SIM was an issue, but just ask the shop before you buy.

It took me less than 5 minutes to get an O2 SIM installed at an O2 store (Kensington High Street). Fast, easy and great rates.

in answer to your last question - the SIM will also work in Paris, but the rates will be a bit higher than they will be in London (since it will be a "foreign" phone in Paris). This is not that big a deal since the EU clamped down on high fees for texting and calling, but may be a little more of an issue for data usage.
