Informational website for London activities

https://www.ianvisits.co.uk/

I somehow got on the emailing list for this sight. Ian lets you know by date what is going on in England. Some are pretty interesting, some unusual, some fun, some Weird but all are available.
Just thought I would share.

Barbara, this looks like it has some good info; and as you noted, events that are a bit different from the stuff that the tourist blogs post. I'm adding it to my travel info for next month's trip. Thanks so much for posting!

Coming back to add that I just saw that there will be an exhibition of John Singer Sargent paintings at the Tate Britain, opening tomorrow and continuing through July.

I'm very excited about that as I love Sargent's work, and it will be so cool to see over 60 of his paintings. Thanks again, Barbara!

That looks great—-I will forgive them all the ads because it provides such good information.

For those going to London in late April (like us) note the Hampton Court Tulip Festival, with 100,000 bulbs in full bloom.

Mardee! I can't thank you enough for posting that! I have the Tate Britain listed as a 'plan B' museum if there's rain, and/or we have some spare time on the last couple of days. Both my husband and I really like John Singer Sargent since seeing some of his works in Boston a few years ago. Big asterisk now added to my notes 😊

Happy to post something of interest. Wish I was going to London soon as there are so many events happening.

I could ramble on forever about things that are in the Tate collection, after checking what's on display at Tate Britain at the moment. I have an interest in contemporary British art so I always enjoyed seeing the up to date stuff there too.

Definitely worth a visit for The Turners, The Hockney, Henry Moores, Francis Bacon triptych, Tracey Emin, Bridget Riley op-art, etc etc. Some parts of the building are quite old and grand.

Same as Tate Modern, one for the discerning visitor that isn't necessarily looking for big hitters like you'd find in a big commercial collection in the US or other parts of Europe, or some of the larger galleries in the west end.

Mardee, we highly recommend the John Singer Sargent exhibit as we saw it here in Boston before it moved to the Tate. It was fascinating.

Jone, I love Sargent and have viewed his paintings over the years at various museums but to see so many of them all together is awesome!

Mary, isn't that great? I was so excited to see this listing! I had planned on going to the Tate Modern, but was on the fence about Tate Britain and this definitely changed my mind!

I check his lists weekly.

One other thing that tends to appear is strike info in the London area.

A good resource.
