My husband and I will arrive in London (from Palermo) on October 13. (Not sure of the flight yet) We want to stay in London fairly close to the tourist sites of Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, etc. for 4 nights. On Oct 14 we plan to attend the Seahawks game at Tottenham Hotspurs new stadium. It looks like the game is at 6 p.m. I was thinking we could just take the Tube there and back So a hotel near a Tube stop would be great. How late does the Tube run? It looks like it is an hour trip. We plan to attend the theater in the West End on Oct 15. We are not fussy and don't need fancy. Just a quiet, reasonably priced place to sleep. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your help.
You realise that the Elizabeth Tower (aka Big Ben) is covered in scaffolding for a few years?
Someone else asked earlier about getting to the Seahawks game, and got some good answers. I think The best route involves the Overground. Hopefully someone who is proficient with the Search function here can find it.
OK, I queried on TFL.co.uk and found the answer. London Overground to White Hart Lane station. Walk 8 minutes to the stadium.
So look for a hotel close to the Overground line. You can see it on this London transport map
Here's the discussion about the Seahawks game, and more.
hey travelpatty
don't know what your "inexpensive" means. london is an expensive city, staying close to tourists sites will costs you, it will be crowded. went a few years ago when raiders played. do walk to regent street, piccadilly circus it's an all out party hardy. we did a ginjourney.com which was fun, saw changing of the guard at buckingham palace, was great, rode the tube "mind the gap" went to abbey road, regents canal and of course the tourists sites, we are tourists. time goes by fast. enjoy yourself.

Specifically, if you're planning to take the Overground to White Hart Lane, you'll need to leave from Liverpool Street, so somewhere round there or on the Central or Circle Lines.
We have found the Premier Inns ( many locations) to be a good value for a short stay.
