Immigration when connecting between terminal 3 and 5 at Heathrow Airport

Hello,

My young daughter will be traveling to Newcastle in a few days. She will be going from the US to Heathrow and then getting a connecting flight to Newcastle. She is a US citizen. We can't figure out for sure when will she have to do immigration. From what we understand, her flight will land on terminal 3 and she has to get the bus that takes connecting passengers to terminal 5. We were told her luggage would go all the way from the US to Newcastle. So, she won't need to claim her luggage and recheck them at Heathrow. Can anyone tell us at what point will she do immigration at Heathrow? Is it right after she lands at terminal 3 before she gets the bus to terminal 5? Or is it after she takes the bus and gets to terminal 5?

Any assistance with this matter would be greatly appreciated!

Go to this website, fill in the flight information, and it will give you step by step instructions:

Heathrow Flight Connections

If this is on one ticket, her bags should be checked through to Newcastle.

She will do immigration in Terminal 5 in the Flight Connections Centre. After that she will have her boarding pass checked and photo taken, then go up to security. She should be following the signed route for UK / Ireland connections, not arrivals or international connections.
