Heathrow's website has a wonderful connection page. Put in all your details, and you'll see all the steps involved and the approximate time needed: https://www.heathrow.com/flight-connections
Follow the clearly marked purple signs that say “flight connections” after you deplane. These will lead you a location with two different areas. One of these is marked UK /rep of Ireland connections. You join this line and go through passport control. If the timing for your connection is tight, let an attendant know. After passport control you stop and scan your boarding pass and a biometric picture of you is taken. Then it is on to security. Word of warning, if you’ve picked up any liquids on your first flight get rid of them before security. Once through security you are back in the airside terminal ready to catch your next flight.
Thanks to you, both!

You will go through a separate immigration channel in T5 prior to security in the North Hall. Depending on your flight, which you haven't disclosed, you may need to transfer airside from T3 to T5 first.
WeI flew British Airways from LAX to LHR to Glasgow and the connection was super rushed. I will never fly through there again with less than 3 hr layover. We had over 2 hrs scheduled, but landed late with 90 minutes to connect. The website said 95 minutes minimum connection time. We were met at the gate and given “short connection” cards that got us to the front of the line everywhere. The airport is huge. We had to take a bus to another terminal, go through passport control, go through security and get to the next gate. Thankfully our connecting flight was delayed and we made it. Wear your running shoes just in case!
Thank you. I had enough running shoe practice navigating train stations last visit. Will pack an extra pair!
