My husband and I will be leaving York with 2 days prior to our flight out of LHR. We were planning to go to Windsor, but found out the castle is closed Tuesday and Wednesday. We fly out on Thursday. We would like to be someplace where we can access the tube or train easily into LHR. We've been to London several times and have seen most of the "London" sights. Any ideas? Is Oxford a possibility?

Oxford would work. The Airline is a bus (coach) service between Oxford and LHR, every 20 minutes and taking about 90 minutes to Terminal 5, longer to other terminals. If your flight is in the morning, I'd suggest spending the night before in an airport hotel.
Or, of course, no matter how many times you've been to London there will be more to see and do there!
