Ideas of where to stay in Bath, with a car ?

we would like to visit Bath for two nights in June, we have a car that we need to park. Then spend a full day ( and a bit) in Bath.
Any ideas on where to stay would be appreciated.

I can't recommend lodgings, but I do know Bath has severe inner-city driving restrictions. When I visited with a friend from the region a couple of years ago, he parked in a designated lot on the edge of the city which provided bus service into the core.

I just googled and found a wonderful looking one called the Boathouse, right next to a Park and Ride, There are 3 Park and Ride places in Bath, so search for hotels near one of them.

I just spent a few nights in bath. I stayed at 3 Abbey Green in the center of town. It was comfortable enough. Parking is very restricted in town, I was advised by the hotelier that nearly all hotels/B&B's, etc. direct their guests to park at the garages on the edge of town. Parking is expensive. However, Bath is small and walking time from the garages to anywhere in town is relatively short.

I also stayed at Three Abbey Green. It is a little more money than B&Bs on the age of town but I enjoyed my stay. And you really can't beat the location.

I'll give a plug for The Apsley House. It is about 20 minute walk (easy walk) from the town center, but parking is right on site and this small inn is absolutely gorgeous. The rooms are great, breakfast is excellent, the neighborhood is quiet and residential, and the view from the backyard to the surrounding hills is wonderful. The place has history too - built by the Duke of Wellington for his mistress in Bath. We loved our 2 days in Bath in June 2012, and I'm sure you will too!

thanks everyone thus far, for your suggestions. I will investigate. as I suspected parking can be of concern.

Another plug for The Apsley House, it was wonderful. We had cocktails in the yard, a wonderful breakfast, and the best view out our window. . .will definitely return! Charming!

Look for a Bath lodging that specifically on its website offers parking, that would be a big plus.
Ten years ago I found such a place, so I know it's possible. That specific lodging info is out of date, but it can be done, if the traveler pays attention to the parking details during the trip planning phase, when researching the lodging.

I have to add my own plug for Rick's recommendation of the Apple Tree Guest House (reasonably priced) run by Les and Lynsay. When we made the reservation, we let them know that we would need car parking. We called them to let them know a couple of hours ahead when we estimated we would arrive. We pulled up in front of the B&B (double parked), rang the door and Lynsay popped out. We unloaded the car and she rode up the street with my husband to park the car with a permit. Very easy. The Apple Tree is in easy walking distance (3-4 blocks) from town. Once we parked the car, we didn't need to use it again - although we could have. Les and Lynsay are a lovely young couple and they fix a very nice English breakfast. When we left, they even gave us a couple of buns for the road.

We stayed at a travelodge across the pedestrian bridge from the train station. We paid a small fee to use their car park.

My wife and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on our 2013 U.K. trip. It was a bit of hike on foot, though not too bad, into the center. We did not have a car (yet) but the parking would have been easy if we had. I have driven into the city center on a earlier trip, and did not find it intimidating, but the parking might be a challenge the closer you get to the center.
