I have made my list of villages that come highly recommended all pinned on a map.
Bampton (see Downtown Abby film sites)
Swinbrook
Asthall
Widford
Minster Lovell
Kelmscott
Upper and Lower Swell
Great Tew
Long Campton
Great Rollright
Hook Norton
Edgehill
Chipping Campden
Bibury
Broadway
Stanton and Blockley
Upper Slaughter
Lower Slaughter
Painsick
Ebrington
Stow on the Wold
Hidcote Gardens
Winchcombe/Sudeley Castle
All are within a 30-45 minute drive of where we are staying in Great Rissington (near Burton-on-the-Water / Stow-on-the-Wold). We will spend our first day at Blenheim Palace and it will be our first full day after our international flight, so we may be tired. Then, we will have two full days left for villages.
Question: Obviously, we can not see them all, but any suggestions on a route to include the best of the best? I don't want to miss the thatched roof houses, but exactly where are they? Which ones are must sees to stop, which are drive by?
Thanks for any help!
