Sorry, I too don’t understand the post. You can buy white Twix from any supermarket in the U.K.

For me, the great advancement of vending machines, over the last number of years, has been the variety of goods offered and I can use Apple Pay - no need for coins or having the machine reject your crumpled $5 bill, and worse, dealing with all that crappy, unwanted change the machine dispenses.

Hey, you can purchase an iPad or some Beats Headphones, from a vending machine at the airport, while waiting for your flight. Or buy a litre of fresh milk, from a vending machine, at the market area in Ljubljana.

And then there's the vending machine in Rome that bakes a pizza for you, from scratch, on the spot.

I loved the ingenuity of vending machines in almost any location in the world some of which were out-of-the way venues. Seems that those travelers could find something to enjoy no matter where. In the Northeast USA, I'm not used to seeing them except for sodas, salty snacks and the usual suspects of candy bars.
It appears that in England, they are in airports, train platforms, etc. with many choices. Then, again, I haven't been out much. . .

Every vending machine in the world is an amateur compared to what they have in Japan.

Frank II there were some inspiring examples in the article. Are they in convenient spots for travelers?

After a nearly 2 year absence due to covid, the increased number of vending machines in Italy was a surprise, including vending machine storefronts. A pretty wide variety of goods as well, the typical candy/soda, but also beer, personal care items, food, and even a washing machine or two.
