how to purchase advance rail tickets while in USA?

sorry if this has already been covered, but can you buy tickets for different rail lines (such as LNER, and Southern Service) on the nationalrail.co.uk website or is it more cost effective to buy the advance rail tickets from the specific rail line for the destination? Will the 2Together rail discount card be honored on all rail lines? Thank you

Start at Nationalrail and it will send you to the correct rail line to purchase. Your 2 together rail discount card should work on all rail lines, but I don't know personally if every route/time is covered. Hopefully, someone with more knowledge will chime in here.

You can buy your tickets at the 2 together rate, even if you have not purchased your rail card yet, as long as you have purchased it prior to taking your first trip.

There is a big sale on for some routes for advance sale tickets (as much as 50% off) going on right now. If you know your dates and routes, you may want to check the prices.

You can buy tickets from any of the rail companies with some exceptions and 2Together discount is always given where applicable. That is after 9.30 weekdays
You need to be spending more than £90 to make any savings
The cheapest tickets on longer journeys are called Advance Single where you have to travel on booked train. If you can't see these you are probably looking too early
I think one of these exceptions is the Southern DaySave Ticket which can only be obtained from Southern
Suggest you consult www.seat61.com for information on rail travel in UK including how to book tickets from abroad

Mrs Carol, if you are of a certain age, a senior discount Railcard might be beneficial to you. It costs 30£ a year. So, depending on how much rail travel you plan, it might be useful. I just purchased Edinburgh to London using my discount card for 29£ (although my ticket is Advanced Single). Here is the link to the senior pass info:
