I will be needing a large amount of Euros for an activity in the UK. I would prefer to buy them after this Sundays vote in Spain, but I will already be over there. I'm assuming that I can go to a bank, but I need to confirm this. I don't want to have to exchange CAN$ to Sterling, then to Euros.

I believe that that is what you will have to do.
If you aren't happy doing that perhaps you could take the train to Paris or fly to Dublin and exchange them there.
The currency in the UK for the minute is Pounds Sterling, not euro.
You can get euro here but it will be a double exchange.
You can withdraw Euros from the ATM in the Eurostar Terminal in St Pancras. But why do you need Euros for an activity in UK?
Tim, I won't have a lot of extra time to search for exotic dual-currency ATMS. Most of my time will be in the SW anyway. The operator of a specialized tour is from the continent - they want Euros.
What Emma said. We wanted euros before boarding the Eurostar to Paris, and it turned out there was a dual-currency ATM right outside our neighborhood tube station ( Bermondsey). Someone mentioned one at St. Pancras station as well, and according to Emma there are lots more in London.
