My husband and I are traveling from Paris back to Seattle at the end of February. We are coming into Terminal 5 and leaving from Terminal 5, with a 2hr 10 min layover (from noon to 2pm, basically. On a Monday). No checked bags. Will we have to leave the terminal and go through security again? If so, is two hours sufficient to accomplish this? A succinct explanation of the process we can expect to encounter would be wonderful. Thanks, fellow travelers.
You must be flying on British Airways on both flights? For a connection through T5 you will not leave the terminal ( no passport check) but you will go through security before boarding your flight to the US. The minimum time for transfer this is 60 minutes so you are well beyond that.

Thank you, Lola, very helpful (and reassuring!). D.
The UK CAA doesn't put trust in any other countries' airport security so you always need to go through it unless you are in transit from another UK airport, plus the Channel islands or Isle of Man.
If you arrive at the B or C gates from Paris and are leaving from the B or C gates to Seattle you do not need to trek back to the main terminal (although you can if you get lost or want more shops!) and can clear security in those satellites, which tend to be less crowded. If you arrive at or depart from the A gates then you have to clear at the main terminal, and will do so alongside those starting from Heathrow.
Unfortunately as these gates change on a daily basis it isn't possible to say which applies to a particular set of flights. You can find out the information on arrival.
