Visting london in October 2016. Looking at staying at the Doubletree by Hilton Westminester hotel or the Park Plaza westminister Bridge hotel. Which one is better to get around? Does any one have any better ideas where to stay, thats not to expensive?

What is your actual budget in £s for a hotel, and how many nights?

What do you consider not expensive in an expensive city?

Is there a reason you are considering these hotels and this area of London?

Would you consider an apartment? A bed and breakfast? An Airbnb accommodation such as a private room in someone's home?

As far as getting around, with an Oyster card and the London Underground you can travel hither and yon fairly quickly.

If you would offer a bit more clarity on your budget etc. I'm certain you'd get more answers to your question.

we would like to keep our buget around 600-800 GBP for 4 night stay.. We choose the doubletree and park plaza because we are members and can recieve points for staying there. We would consider other options, apartment no airbnb or b&b. We would like to be central for all tourist attractions, we enjoy mostly walking and would like to do minimal use of the tube and bus.

minimal use of bus and tube---

London is so big, with so many attractions spread across the city that using buses and the tube will be necessary at times

the Park Plaza is closer to a couple of tube stations - the Doubletree not so much

if you want other options use booking.com and see what you can find, then ask again if you need to any further input

I stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton Westminster in August 2015 and would stay there again. Clean, great amenities, accommodating staff. This neighborhood was quiet, friendly, and safe. It is not a touristy area, which was a nice change of pace after sightseeing all day. It was a pleasant five-minute walk to the Pimlico Tube station and if I recall correctly, a bus stopped very near or right in front of the hotel. There were some pubs and shops nearby. Try the Morpeth Arms for dinner. The food was delicious—and the pub is supposedly haunted! The only slight negative about my stay there was some construction going on near the hotel, although I never heard it or really had to deal with it.

There are many budget friendly hotels around London- We stayed in a Travelodge! Believe it or not, it got great reviews on Trip Advisor, it was clean, quiet, very simple, but met our needs perfectly. There are many different locations. And, they offered breakfast for a fee, but that made it so much easier since we were traveling with 7 family members.
