Comfort Inn Buckingham Palace Road. Great location, hotel is just so-so but usually reasonably priced. Between location and price I can put up with the fact that the hotel is blah. Breakfast is terrible but there are lots of options in Victoria Station only 5 minute walk.

Most recently I stayed at Premier Inn Hub Westminster Abbey and loved it, but it was at least a 15 minute walk from Victoria Station. Also room was small - it was great for one person but might be cramped for two. Although I would do it for the price and the hotel itself. And their breakfast, for the same price as Comfort Inn's (I think both were 6£) was fabulous.

Another vote for hub Westminster Abbey with the same caveat regarding room size as previous poster. If you don’t want to do the 10-15 min walk, several busses (11/24/148/211) are available to take you back and forth, or one stop on the Circle/District tube line.

rforbes,

I stayed at THIS HOTEL on my last visit to London as would certainly recommend it. The room was clean and well appointed, the staff were wonderful and they served a nice breakfast. It's close to Victoria station and Tube stops nearby. However one point to note - they don't have an elevator (if that's a concern?).

There’s actually two Hub Hotels nearby: Westminster Abbey and St James’s Park. Ten to 15 minute walk to Victoria Station.

The room are small and ultra modern, you control the room from an app or from controls next to the bed. They’re fine for a single traveler or a very close couple.

They are about as far away from a Rick Steves cute and quaint hotel as possible. The staff is friendly, but they’re not going to sit down and chat over a pint.

I love the Hub concept and have stayed at both the Westminster Abbey location and the Covent Garden location. They’re not for everyone because of the room sizes and reliance on technology.

We stayed three nights in May 2015 at the Best Western Victoria Palace recommended in RS guide. We thought it was quite nice with a big English breakfast and convenient location. Several blocks from the station, just a few minutes away.

I stay at the Jesmond Dene on Argyle St. - very close to the Kings Cross station (about 2 blocks) and the metro station. It is my go-to hotel in London.
Small - no left - breakfast optional
It is an easy location to walk several places, loads of public transport.
