Any recommendations for a nice safe hotel near Paddington for elderly traveler? Easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, etc. I've googled the area and see several choices but would love a personal experience and any recommendations. Thanks
This is a frequent topic on the Forum. A search of the site will give you all the information you need and more.
A bit further away but still easy walking distance I’ve stayed at 63 Bayswater for years. Last stay November of 2024.
Places to eat: the Mitre Lancaster Gate, Tudkin Flavors of Malaysia, Sheila’s Cafe, The Victoria Paddington.
Is there a particular reason for wanting to stay near Paddington? It's OK but not the most convenient location for tourism in central London. There are better places just as accessible from Heathrow and better located for Gatwick.
There is a Hilton that's less than a 5 minute walk from the station, if close proximity is the highest priority.
There’s the new Premier Inn on Eastbourne Terrace. It opened last year and is directly opposite the Elizabeth Line entrance. You also have two bus stops (inbound and outbound) opposite each other on Eastbourne Terrace. They’re very convenient for getting about.
There’s also the Hilton that’s directly attached to the station; that’s about as close as you can get!
The Victoria is a good pub and not too far away you have Mickeys fish and chips if you’re wanting a chippy. Within the station itself, you have a Sainsbury’s and a Marks & Spencer‘s for grocery top ups.
Laurents on Craven Road is a good spot for coffee & a pastry or sandwich. Sit outside and people watch or duck into the back room for a quiet respite. Can also recommend Ozuki sushi on Craven Terrace.
Stayed for 5 nights in October at the Premier Inn mincepie referenced in a standard twin room (one large bed, one made up single). Very nice PI. Spotlessly clean and so convenient to most of London. Took about 20 minutes to get from LHR there on the Heathrow Express with a direct connection. Highly recommend this particular PI.
