Hi,

Any suggestions on hotels near Heathrow airport?

Thank you!

Thank you! Lower end on the price scale - I am taking the train from the Glastonbury area and this will be my last night in England.

The 'big' names often turn out to be quite cheap at LHR through discounters. Jury's at Hatton Cross is often reasonable through regular channels. You haven't said which terminal you are leaving from.

Rather than throw away the last night of your England vacation at a faceless airport hotel, why not stay in Windsor? Most trains coming from the west will stop at Reading, where you would change to get to Heathrow ( unless you continue on to Paddington and backtrack). Instead, change at Reading and the Slough to go to Windsor. It is a lovely place right on the Thames, with walking paths, and you can see the castle if you are interested. We had a lovely modern room at Frances Lodge B and B for £90, including a very nice English breakfast. The local bus to Heathrow stops just a half block up the street. Allow 45 minutes for the bus to T5.

I like the Premier Inn on Bath Road. Reasonable price, nice rooms, good restaurant and an excellent buffet breakfast (usually included in the price). The Hoppa Hotel bus charges 4.50 pounds each way (it does drop offs and pick-ups at other hotels).

We stayed at the Travelodge Heathrow Central using the www.travelodge.co.uk for bargain rooms and got one for 29GBP. This Travelodge is located in an area with pubs, a pizza joint, shops, and a delightful Polish deli, all within a block or two. At most other Heathrow hotels you are stuck using their bar and restaurant since they are in areas rather isolated. Double Tree by Hilton is in the same neighborhood but likely more expensive than Travelodge Heathrow Central ( and it isn't very central by any means). We always get bargain rooms using the Travelodge website.

The Premier Inn Terminal 5 (also on Bath Rd, but at the other end from the other Premier Inn) is inexpensive and very comfortable. There is no need to take the Hoppa Bus - the public bus (423) is FREE from Terminal 5, and stops right in front of the hotel. You're not stuck with the hotel restaurant, though it is certainly fine. There is a McDonald's right next door, as well as a coffee shop.
