Hotels in Heathrow Airport?

Looking for recommendations for hotels inside Heathrow Airport. We have an overnight layover. Thanks.

We stayed at the iBis Hotel which is just outside of the airport but inexpensive. If you select it, take a taxi to it (cheap) rather than waiting for the shuttle bus to show up - we waited over an hour. If you decide on the iBis, join their "Frequent Stayer" program online as it is free and provides some benefits including express check-in and discounted rates.

There’s a Yotel inside the terminal itself, in Teminal 4. We haven’t stayed at the one in Heathrow, but have stayed several times at the Yotel in London’s Gatwick Airport.

It’s a Japanese concept, with tiny modular rooms that are just big enough. After landing, it avoids finding your way to another hotel, even if it’s not too far away, and for a departure in the morning, they couldn’t be closer. Some people are just there for a few hours, but could stay for a day or more. You’re charged accordingly.

Free water, tea, coffee are available from the front desk “mission control, and Microwave food is available for purchase if you want.

It can take a little maneuvering to get around your luggage and to the glassed-in bathroom, complete with shower. There’s a TV and a desk, but tucked inside a secure place in the terminal, there’s no view!

For those actually in, or directly connected by walkways etc:

Hilton Garden Inn (Terminal 2) is the newest.

Premier Inn (Terminal 4) is usually the cheapest as the terminal itself is half-empty these days.

We got 2 very inexpensive rooms at the Premiere Inn in July (55£ each) and found them to be perfectly comfortable for a layover night and easy to get to from our arrival terminal 2, to the hotel attached by a walkway to terminal 4 to our departure terminal the next morning, terminal 5.

EDIT: there were 3 other hotels connected to the walkway at terminal 4. One hotel was a Marriott, another was a Hilton and I can’t remember what the 4th hotel was but they all branched off of the connecting walkway in case you have a hotel loyalty program with a different chain.

The Sofitel in T5 is the nicest but comes at a price. However, if you happen to be an Accor loyalty member and have points to spend then it may be a good option.

You can use Avios for the Sofitel and perhaps for other airport hotels, if you collect Avios.

I can vouch for the Premier Inn at T4. I'll be staying there for the third time next Wednesday night. The rate is normally extremely low, and you can walk there from T4 via an enclosed walkway in about 15 minutes, so no worries about taxis or hotel courtesy vans. However, if you have a generous budget, you can almost certainly find a room in a hotel closer to your departure terminal.

I can also vouch for the premier inn at terminal 4. I usually take the day flight to London so I stay there the first day to help kill jet lag. Inexpensive and clean, the bar is excellent and reasonably priced and the breakfast is great too.

I've also stayed at the Sofitel at Terminal 5 especially if my flights are in and out of Terminal 5. It's connected to the terminal.

Remember that each Heathrow terminal is an entirely separate facility. Check this site for info, including how to travel between terminals.

Which terminal(s) are you using? That will determine which hotel you choose. I always fly in and out of Terminal 5 on BA so I go to the Sofitel, which is essentially in Terminal 5.

There are multiple Ibis hotels. We stayed at Ibis Style. It was easy, but we too opted for the taxi to get to the airport. I just wasn't ready to schlep at 5 AM. :(

Another vote for Premier Inn terminal 4. Getting between terminals is pretty simple with the Heathrow Express underground train (free) or maybe a mini cab if you don't feel like horsing luggage around.
