Hotels in Cornwall

Looking for that quintessential "English hotel" you read about in Agatha Christie novels in Cornwall. Doesn't matter where just looking for something with great views of the ocean. Thanks.

That might be fun....
I guess I mean somewhere that isn't full of people like me (american) seems every time I use a Rick Steve guide book to find a hotel I end up in a place with mostly Americans walking around with Rick Steve guide books.

As long as you avoid chain hotels, I think you will find lots of quirks and personality in British hotels. Most of the hotels and guesthouses that Rick lists in Cornwall sound just as traditionally English as could be. Some listings name the owners, in which case you're pretty sure those are the people who will welcome you. It's hard to avoid other tourists in touristy places, of course, so venturing to a town you've never heard of is one way to get off the beaten path.

P.S. I think I could happily sleep at Fawlty Towers, but wouldn't want to dine there.

Have a look at Burgh Island Hotel. Just looked at its wiki entry and says it was the inspiration for two of Agatha Christie's novels also used as a film location.
Its an art deco hotel - www.burghisland.com. In South Devon so not quite Cornwall.
Oops just looked at the cost of the rooms - prices are scary.
