Hotels in central London - The Sanctuary House or Luna & Simone

Will be in London late November and am trying to decide between these two hotels. Which would you pick?

We stayed at sanctuary house in May. Location is fantastic. Tube station across the street. Westminster abbey at the end of the street. Lots of pubs in the area. Walking distance to St James park, Buckingham palace, parliament and trafalger square. Room was clean and as expected. Staff was great. No info on your other choice. Happy to answer any questions you might have.

I have never been to the Sanctuary House, but I have stayed at Luna and Simone more than once. Their prices have really gone up and they have no lift. Also, their rooms are very small. The Sanctuary House seems grander (looked at the website.) I decided against L & S for my trip in September as they did not seem as friendly in their responses to my inquiries and did not offer a Rick Steves discount as I wanted a double room for one person. I had always gotten a double room in the past as they are on the lower floors and the singles are way at the top. If you do stay at Sanctuary House, please report back to us. I'd like to put it on my list of London hotels. If you end up going to L & S, be sure to eat at Grumbles around the corner. I recommend their fish pie. I decided on the Premier Inn near Victoria Station for this trip.

We chose Sanctuary House for our first visit to London in 2003, and loved the location and the hotel. We returned 3 or 4 more times, until we turned to booking apartments for our London visits. I did switch to the nearby ST.Ermin’s on one trip, because had Marriott points to burn, and the location is basically the same. We just enjoy being so close to St. James Park, Whitehall, and Westminster Bridge. We like to walk almost everywhere, or ride London buses, and the Sanctuary House is pretty well- located for both.
