Hello.
We are overwhelmed with the hotel choices in Bath. We want a nice place to stay and are finding them very expensive. We are two females wanting seperate rooms or two double beds in a room (which we can't find). Two twins are too small for us. We would also like to be within short walking distance to the town of Bath.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Wendy
One thing I have noticed about Bath is that prices spike on weekends and are more reasonable during the week. If your plan is still flexible I would definitely plan to be there during the week. Slightly less crowded as well.
Over the years I've stayed at The Kennard (has changed owners since I stayed there), Brooks Guest House and The Francis Hotel (of the Sofitel/Accor chain).
Of those, Brooks is probably most reasonable cost-wise. I was in a single which was small, had a twin and since I was on an RS tour it was probably one of the less expensive rooms. It was an easy walk to either the Royal Crescent or the historic City Center.
Bath is the second most expensive place to stay after London and rooms are rarely discounted.
You won't generally find 2 double beds in UK rooms - it will be 2 singles or a double/king size.
The Queensberry Hotel is great, but I don't know what your budget is (in GB£). The Premier Inn chain has a centrally located block in Bath - nothing fancy, but reasonable value, especially if booked several months in advance.
Brooks Guest House is quite nice and it's an easy walk to just about anywhere you'll want to go.
My husband and I stayed at Three Abbey Green two years ago and really liked it. Not sure if it will fit all of your specific requirements, but it was reasonably priced and right by the abbey, too.
Yes, Three Abbey Green is very nice. Right in the heart of things.
Thank you for all the information and ideas!

Premier Inn Bath City Centre.
Yes, it's a chain. No, it's not "quaint." But the rooms are good size, the bed is made for two. If two of you want to share a room there is one double and one single.
It's clean, offers everthing you may need, and is centrally located. It's also fairly new.
The Kennard is a fine establishment, just the other side of the bridge. And your neighborhood pub, the Boater, is a true gem of Bath.
