We'll be traveling to southern England in September, and most of our trip is booked. We've been having a difficult time finding a place to stay in Wells. Any suggestions?

We will be in Wells in September as well. Have booked 3 nights at the Beryl Country House. I can't give you a review yet, but we found the Beryl House in an old Karen Brown travel book. Karen's recommendations have never let us down.

In 2015 we stayed at The Crown which is only a few hundred feet from the cathedral. The food there is also good. I have included my journal comments about the place.
"We are staying at The Crown, the Wells pub that masqueraded as Sandford in the "Hot Fuzz" film (one of Simon Pegg’s trilogy with his buddy Nick Frost). Naturally, the bar has several pictures of the cast posing with the hotel staff. We checked in, then hurried over to visit the cathedral before it closed. "
