Hotel rooms to accommodate 3 adults

Looking for recommendations for hotels which can accommodate 3 adults in one room. Preferably two queen beds. Budget would be up to $700 per night.

While you're waiting for recommendations here, you might try using booking.com to see what shows up. Use any filters that you think would help, not forgetting air conditioning if you're traveling between May and September. If you specifically want to stay in a hotel rather than, for example, a two-bedroom apartment, be sure to select "Hotels". Otherwise, a lot of the result will be apartments. In your price range you should be able to find something nice in a central location, but be very careful about the type of beds provided. In some cases you'll see "full" rather than "queen". If "full" means the same thing in London it means in the US (I don't know whether it does), two adults will not be happy sharing that bed. And in some cases one bed is a queen and the other is a sofa bed.

I don't travel in that price range, so I have no personal recommendation to offer. It might help other posters to know what time of year you plan to be in London, because hotel rates can vary a lot by season. Also, down in my price range, Saturday night can have by far the most expensive rates. I don't know whether the same holds true at upper-end properties. Is Saturday night by any chance the night you will not be in London?

For $700/nt, you’ll probably have an easier time finding two rooms at $350 each. Possibly connecting rooms.

Finding a room with two queen beds is very difficult in Europe. If you’re lucky, you may find a quad room, which has four twin beds, with the beds pushed together into two “double” beds. You need to look at pictures and descriptions (including bed sizes) very, very carefully. A “full” size bed in Europe could be similar to a full in the US - narrower than a queen. If a couple is used to a king bed, this feels very small. Or it could be two twins pushed together - this gives you more space, but a gap in between the mattresses (sometimes cover by a mattress pad, sometimes covered just by a sheet).

Also be aware that many rooms listed as having “two beds” consider sofa bed as a bed. It’s very frustrating. Similarly, a living room with a sofa bed can be listed as a “bedroom” when searching for apartments. When we (family of 4) look for apartments, I search as a group of 5 to ensure we end up with at least two real beds.

I'd point out that four [sorry--meant to say "three"] people traveling together (quite possibly on the same schedule for leaving the hotel every morning) sharing one bathroom might not make for the most efficient travel arrangement. There's a lot to be said for two separate rooms, each with a bathroom.

Premier Inn does not allow 3 adults in a room but the Travelodge chain does. I would think you’d get 1 double bed and a single bed.

$700 is a good budget and you would be better off with 2 interconnecting rooms. More space and 2 bathrooms. Travelodge for 3 would be ok for 1 night. I’m doing it later this year with 2 friends because hotel prices are very high in London at the moment.

Your other thread, about transport from Gatwick, says you are staying at the Grosvenor Square Marriott. Are you now looking for something different? Maybe a different location?

Have you considered an Apartment Hotel? These offer hotel services ( reception desk, etc.) but apartments with kitchens rather than simple hotel rooms. There are several companies with locations all over London. The Marlin Queen Street location near St. Paul’s would be easy to reach from Gatwick by Thameslink train to Blackfriars Station.

A 2-bedroom apartment ( king or queen bed in each room) would be around £350-£400 a night, depending on your dates.

Thank you for this recommendation for the Marlin apartment hotel. We booked this for our stay in London. This will be perfect for our family.

Great.I am glad that worked out for you. We love that location. Just cross the pedestrian- only Millennium Bridge and there are lots of sights and restaurants along the Thames path.

I am traveling with my 3 grown sons and in Paris I rented an airbnb but in London I didn't find a very good selection so I booked two hotel rooms with 2 twin beds in each.

Like acraven, I am a big fan of booking.com. It is a good site to do research on and then you can book using booking or go directly to your hotel website to book.

I always choose free cancellation and it has been very easy to cancel.
