My husband and I are arriving in Heathrow Airport at 10:30pm. Because we are arriving so late we would like to stay near Paddington Station. Any recommendations for a 3-4 Star hotel in the area?

Because arriving so late, why not stay at Heathrow for one night, then move to your proper hotel the day after. You haven't mentioned the circumstances of your arrival, but even if arriving from Europe, it could be midnight-1am before you clear Heathrow, from USA, the sun could be coming up again. Even getting to Paddington around those hours could be interesting / expensive. Much better to stay super close, fall out of the plane and into your hotel room, then enjoy the tube into London refreshed the next morning. Good luck.

Have a look at the Darlington Hyde Park. My American friends usually stay there and say it's nice.

Don't stay at Heathrow; just go straight to your hotel in London.
Near Paddington, I've stayed at the Hotel Indigo.
I often take a flight that arrives at Heathrow at 10 pm and usually get through immigration pretty quickly at that time of night. I often choose to stay at a hotel on the Piccadilly line near Earls Court or Gloucester Road and I take the tube from LHR. among the hotels that I've stayed at in that area are The Nadler, Premier Inn on Knaresborough Pl, Hotel Indigo Earls Court, Millennium Baileys, and Harrington Hall.

One more thing ... check the times for the last train on the night you arrive.
You might also consider a prebooked car service; this won't cost much more than the Heathrow Express for 2.

I second Laura's advice. We ended up arriving at 10:30 pm instead of 8 am last May. We were through immigration and headed to Heathrow Express by 11:15pm. We still would have made the last tube, but I had planned for the morning, not the night. Check the London transport website for times. From Paddington station ( end of the HEX line) we caught a taxi to our hotel near Waterloo. Not the cheapest, but it worked.
