According to Google maps, there is a Doubletree very near. And the Victory Services Club Hotel, open to British military only.

What sort of budget?

There are dozens of hotels near there: on Park Lane itself you have the Dorchester & Grosvenor House (both very expensive) while around nearby Marble Arch there’s a whole load of hotels at varying prices. The Amba Marble Arch, a Doubletree, a Radisson Blu, the Cumberland - the list is almost endless.

You can google “hotels park lane” and have a look on the map and choose one you’re interested in. Alternatively give more details of budget and the kind of hotel you’re looking for (and why the Marriott Park Lane isn’t for you) and we might be able to help a bit more.

Hi Elaine,

Welcome back.

The problem is that London is the most expensive city in Europe, and Park Lane is one of the most prestigious and expensive parts of London.

Park Lane has always been "The" address to have. Any hotel in Park Lane will be very expensive - and very posh. This is the area adjacent to where the US Embassy was until very recently, and the area has always commanded top money.

At the top of Park Lane is Marble Arch, and that is very much the low rent end of Oxford Street, with shops representative of that, like Primark, and a few hotels representative of that, although still not cheap. If you go east of the Marriott on Park Lane you are in Mayfair, one of the most expensive and "old money" areas of the town, with prices to reflect that.

North of Marble Arch is Edgware Road which has less posh parts as it heads north, and is the best place in town for Middle Eastern food and groceries. West along the top of Hyde Park is an area of nice but reasonable small hotels which will be considerably more modest than anything in Park Lane, but only an easy walk or bus ride away.

Have you tried Booking dot com and put in filters for price and location?

Give us a clue. You don’t want to spend as much, but approximately how much not as much? Are you talking budget? Midrange? Can you put some figures on it so we can make relevant suggestions?

Otherwise do as Nigel suggests: use a booking site, filter by your maximum amount - and look at Marble Arch, Hyde Park areas.
