Hotel Location in London

Coming to London the last week of November for a 2.5 day trip, followed by a train trip on to Paris. Suggestions for a good place to stay if we just plan on hitting the high points (no long museum days, etc. Mostly looking for an overview and maybe easy access to the hop on hop off buses). Bonus points if it's easy to access (via public transportation) from the LHR Airport and easy to get to the St. Pancras train station on to Paris. Not looking for a luxurious hotel or any fluff. Want it to be clean and safe with a comfortable bed. Not planning on hanging out in the room except to sleep! Thanks for any insight you can offer!

If you are arriving at LHR, and leaving from St Pancras, then I'd say to look at one of the 3 Premier Inns close to Kings Cross. The Picadilly line runs from the airport to Kings Cross station. The 3 PIs are, I believe PI Kings Cross, PI St Pancras and PI Euston. We stayed at the PI St Pancras- a block up from St Pancras/Kings Cross and across the street from the British Library. It's about equidistant to the Kings Cross and Euston tube stations and there are bus stops on the block and across the street.

Earlier this year we stayed at the Ashburn a block from the Gloucester tube stop. Both the Gloucester tube stop and Kings Cross/St Pancras stops are on the Piccadilly line that runs from Heathrow.

Thanks! After considering all the angles of our trip, I've decided that staying next to Paddington Station is best for us, especially given our low price point for hotel. It will be easy to get to from Heathrow, and it will be a quick connection up to St. Pancras for our departure. Thank you so much for your input in helping me decide what's best for our short trip!

Emma is right.

Book your Heathrow Express tickets 30 days in advance. If you travel on a weekend it is cheaper than on a weekday. I flew into LHR on Saturday September 7th and I bought my ticket in advance and it was only 8.80 GBP.

Kate, OP can’t get their Heathrow Express tickets 3O days in advanced, they are traveling at the end of the month.
