I have a friend who is going to make a very special trip to England. She wants a major splurge of a hotel in the Kensington/Earl's Court area. She would pay about $500 a night. I can't help her since I'm always looking for cheaper accommodations. Do any of you have suggestions? Thanks.
I stayed at Millenium Bailey's in Kensington a couple of years ago and it was quite lovely--a renovated London townhouse, very beautiful inside and the rooms were well-appointed and spacious, impeccable service. I recall it was in the $250 range then, in August. A major bonus was that it was right across the street from the Gloucester Road tube station and a 10 minute walk to the V&A, plenty of good restaurants and shops in the area.
Thank you Christa. I passed the information onto my friend, and she really liked it. My guess is she will book. Thanks!
One of my favorites is Number Sixteen on Sumner Place but it has gone out of my price range.
We have stayed the Crowne Plaza, South Kensington, three times We were very happy there. We stayed for up to two weeks. It is directly across the street from the Gloucester Tube station also. It is part of the IHG Hotel Group (Holiday Inn, InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, etc.). If you belong to their IHG Group, you are usually upgraded. They also offer club rooms, which include the benefits of the lounge all day, and breakfast.
