We stayed at the Premier Inn, right near the minster. It was very clean, very quiet and typical economy-priced. It is an easy walk to the minster. Plenty of restaurants located within a 5 minute walk (we highly suggest "The Slug & Lettuce"!!!). There is even a movie theater in that same 5-minute walk.

It IS a little difficult to locate, but your GPS should get you there just fine. We had to circle a couple of times, but no big deal.

We stayed at the Premier Inn as well. We got a super deal for 29 pounds, for a family of 4. It was clean. I thought it would be noisy because it was really busy, but we had no noise issues. It was not fancy. The traffic circle by the Premier Inn was very busy. We walked to the center of town, pleasant walk, other than getting across that traffic circle during rush hour. We loved Durham!
