My wife and I will have an overnight layover at Gatwick airport in May. Our inbound flight is scheduled to arrive at 20:45 and the outbound flight is scheduled to depart at 10:00 the next morning, both using the south terminal. We have never been to Gatwick before and would appreciate advice regarding where to stay the night. Our preference would be to stay in a hotel that is within walking distance of the airport. Thank you.
I always book the Premier Inn at North Terminal. It's just a very short walk across the road when you exit the North Terminal. It's super easy to transfer between terminals, there is a shuttle, takes only a few minutes.
There is a Hilton indirectly attached to the South Terminal, through the multi-storey car park. Completely under cover and takes less than 10 minutes walk from arrivals (five if you ignore the signs and go a more direct route, but maybe keep that for going back). Has a large number of rooms so there are often deals on it.
There is a bloc Hotel and a Hilton at the south terminal. There are also several hotels at the north terminal, a five minute tram ride away. At the end of December I spent a night at the Hampton by Hilton hotel located at the north terminal. It's a new hotel with a great breakfast included with the cost of the room and I highly recommend it.
The Corner House Hotel it’s a four minute drive to the airport. The hotel provides free transportation to the airport.
Thank you to all who offered suggestions! We have booked the night at the Yotel (actually, YotelAir) which is within the south terminal. It is very small, but it looks like it will be a lot of fun.
