Hotel Advice needed... Celtic Hotel, London House or Luna & Simone?

After reading many posts here as well on Trip Advisor, we are narrowing down the vast and costly London hotel options. We are zeroing in on 3 different hotels in different neighborhoods. I was hoping to get more current insight, advice and opinions on which of these options might be better.

As background, we are traveling mid September 2016, we are a 40 something couple, first time in UK and this is the first city/country stop in our 2 week tour of Europe. We intend on booking a double room with en suite WC & shower for 3 nights.

1- Celtic Hotel near the Russell Square Station
2- Luna & Simone near the Pimlico area
3- London House Hotel near Bayswater area

Thanks!

We stayed at the Luna & Simone in 2014. I would describe the hotel as a no frills hotel. The rooms were very clean, comfortable, no elevator, nice breakfast included, wifi worked fine. The owners are there throughout the day to help with question. There is a very handy bus stop right outside the hotel (no. 24)

If you are looking for a clean basic hotel I would recommend the Luna & Simone and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We also stayed at the Luna Simone in 2014, and I second the recommendation. As mentioned above, it's not a luxury hotel by any means, but is very clean and well maintained, with a convenient location (bus stop in front and Tube station 5 minutes walk). The owners and their son were very friendly and efficient, and the small rooms were well appointed, bright & cheery, and had everything we needed. I'd stay again in a heartbeat.

We stayed at the Celtic Hotel for 5 nights in 2014. It was recommended by people who had stayed there on several occasions. It is no frills, but clean. And since you aren't going to London to stay in your hotel room, it works. For breakfast, you can select those portions of the traditional English breakfast that you want. It wasn't the best I had by far, but it was serviceable and provided the sustenance we needed to begin our explorations of London. It is very convenient to the British Museum as well as the Russell Square Station. We used the Tube, but also found we liked walking to/from places -- St. Paul's, Trafalgar Square. We prefer to see the neighborhoods and enjoy the outside rather than being underground.

Seems to me that all three are acceptable. The question is, what activities will you be doing and where do you want to be. Pick the one that is closest to your activities and gives you the least amount of time in transit. Look at a map and decide how much you can walk to from each place. For the record, we stayed at the Celtic and were happy with it and the location. We are a 60 year old couple who walk as much as possible. Nothing wrong with the great London transit system, we simply prefer to be out in the middle of everything as much as practical..

hs,

I stayed at the Luna & Simone in September and would absolutely recommend it. There's no elevator but the rooms are clean, well furnished and very comfortable. As I recall, coffee and tea making appliances are provided in each room and the Wi-Fi worked well, even in my small single room on the fifth floor. The owners are wonderful and breakfasts are usually quite "entertaining". There are LOTS of nice restaurants in the vicinity, including a great Italian place about three doors down from the hotel. Transportation is very easy as both London Victoria (rail & Tube) and London Victoria Coach station are all within easy walking distance. For access to the Tube, Pimlico is only about a five minute walk and it's a good station to use as it's not nearly as hectic and crowded as Victoria. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
