Horses at Windsor Castle

My husband and I are "horse people'. I know that you can visit the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace although there are often no horses to be seen. Does anyone know if you are able to see the "royal" horses at Windsor Castle? I've also considered doing a ride through Hyde Park while we are there. Does anyone have any recommendations on who to contact for this?

Will you be here for the Royal Windsor Horse Show?

Can't answer your question about Windsor but if you are considering a ride why not venture from the center of London and see the beauty of Wimbledon Common Richmond Park.

This stable can arrange that. Check the website for the reputable Wimbledon Village Stables. Could tie it in with a visit to the Wimbledon Tennis Center tour.

Or if you merely wish to ride in Hyde Park contact Ross Nye Stables as it looks like the Hyde Park stables are permanently closed.

Nigel,
Unfortunately we will be touring in September so we will not get the opportunity to see that. We would simply like to do something "horsie" in either London or Paris while we are abroad. I ride and my husband drives. He can ride as well but is more of a beginner rider (occasionally he hops on his Percherons and goes for a jog).

When in September? There is a two-day event (carriage driving competition) in Windsor Park in mid-month, and other events around the U.K. throughout the month. Here is the calendar:

I used to have a lovely wooden cross-country card and nice mare trained to pull it. Also a small Shire mare, but not enough $$ to buy equipment for her, so I rode her instead. As a horse-lover self, I would choose the ride in Richmond Park, and would go out f my way to see an event (2- day, 3-day, whatever) somewhere.

There is a Four Star event at Burghley http://www.burghley-horse.co.uk/ the first weekend in September every year. That's in Stamford, at the junction of Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire. Regular trains run to Stamford.

This year it is 5-8 September. World class, comparable to Badminton.
