Horse Guards Parade then Buckingham Palace Changing Guards

Hi All,

I wonder if it's feasible to catch a glimpse of the start of Horse Guards Parade at Whitehall inner courtyard then continued with the Buckingham Palace Changing Guard?

When is the beginning of the ceremony of the Horse Guards Parade at Whitehall? is it 10.30am? I just want to watch it until all the horses lined up across each other before the New Horse Guards arrive. Would it be before 11 am as I need to reach The Mall by 11am to watch the Guards from St James marching back to Buckingham Palace.

I'm also concern if we would not be allowed to get out from Whitehall's inner courtyard until the New Guards arrive at 11am since it's the smaller courtyard inside accessed via the archways and visitors who want to leave before the ceremony starts perhaps would disrupt the incoming New Guards.

Cheers
Jen

It's a long walk up the Mall from the horse guards but yes you can watch the horse guards ride up the Mall to the palace.

if you walk past the Churchill War rooms you'll see the Guards lined up. Good vantage point from there to see them escorted out onto the road and then up the Mall.

And yes it happens before 11am so to play it safe get there by 10am but don't believe you'll be able to see much of anything in front of the Palace if you arrive at 11am. People will have secured viewing spots MUCH earlier.

IMHO watch the Horse Guards then move onto something else and forget trying to see the actual Changing of the Guards ceremony.
