In reviewing the Avanti West website they do not have any scheduled trains for the week of the open from London to Liverpool. Does anyone have any information on why this is? Thank you
Wouldn't ya know it, The British Rail Infrastructure Whatever Company, in its infinite wisdom, has chosen this week to shut down the direct rail link (Between Rugby and Stafford) to do a construction project. Notes say check back after May 22.

Avanti themselves are saying 24 May for timetable release, which is pretty much in synch with what is now a 6 to 8 week lead in to timetable release.
The previous week (when there is no engineering) has not yet been released either yet.
There will be trains running, just on a slower route.
Thanks for the replies
I have checked the Avanti Site and they still do not show a schedule for the week of July 17th from Euston to Liverpool. Does anyone know if they will be doing service them or should we book a slower train? Thanks
Have patience Jim. There will be service, albeit probably a bit slower as the trains will have to take a different route.
Whilst there are no trains listed on the Avanti site at the moment the national rail site (national rail.co.uk) does show trains that are clearly taking into account the engineering works, although it doesn't show any fares as yet. This is the site which can be used for any train journey - it doesn't sell tickets itself but directs you to the right train company to buy.
If you look at this site you can see the trains that will be options for you. The options are showing trains with 1 or 2 changes taking between 3 hours and 3 hours 20 minutes. Plan to take one with one change at Crewe rather than those changing at Warrington and Newton-le-Willows.
Avanti are now expecting to release timetables and fares overnight.
I would NOT personally expect you to have to change at all. I am expecting trains to be diverted via the West Midlands, possibly non stop via Bescot. That is what I meant by a slower route.
I think I can see the ghosts of those trains every 2 hours, at xx20 bearing in mind that no train from Liverpool on Avanti normally runs via Birmingham but I can see trains that week which are. They are on a 3 hour 45 minute schedule.
This is what London North Western Railway are stating about Avanti intentions for that week (15 to 22 July)-
Saturday and Sunday:
A reduced service will run via Birmingham New Street.
Additionally, hourly services will operate between:
Manchester Piccadilly and London Euston via Stoke-on-Trent diverting via Bescot (not via Birmingham New Street).
Manchester Piccadilly and London Euston via Crewe (not via Birmingham New Street).
Trains between London Euston and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh via Bescot (not via Birmingham New Street).
Preston and Edinburgh service via Birmingham New Street.
One service every two hours will run between Liverpool Lime Street to Crewe.
Holyhead services will run between Holyhead and Crewe only.
Services between London Euston and Glasgow Central via the West Midlands will be amended to run between Preston and Glasgow Central.
Monday to Friday:
Due to the Trent Valley blockage, we will be running a reduced service hourly services running via the West Midlands between:
Manchester Piccadilly and London Euston via Stoke on Trent diverting via Bescot (not via Birmingham New Street).
Manchester Piccadilly and London Euston via Crewe (not via Birmingham New Street).
London Euston and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh via Bescot (not via Birmingham New Street).
Preston / Edinburgh and London Euston via Birmingham New Street.
Liverpool Lime Street to London Euston.
Holyhead services will run between Holyhead and Crewe only.
Services between London Euston and Glasgow Central via the West Midlands will be amended to run between Preston and Glasgow Central.
No services will run via Northampton.
Not yet released, but clearly coming within the next few days.
The trains that were in the National Rail system have had their timings tweaked overnight, and then again during this morning.
Personally I would rather be sat on a through train which takes a bit longer, than coping with the vagaries of changes.
It is not yet even clear if the LNWR services, which are not reservable, and would be the second train from Crewe, are to be released at the same time, or at a later date.
Jim,
Timings and fares are now released with Advance fares from £33 before any railcard discounts)-
through trains from Euston at 0720, 0918, 1115, 1314 and 1516- arriving at 1103, 1303, 1445, 1703 and 1846 respectively.
So now's the time to get weaving with booking.
Thank you everyone for your thoughtful replies. On to the open now.
