On 10th to 13th September, 2015, many heritage sites in England will have free entry.

James misses the point of Heritage Open Days, which is not that sites are free which are normally charged for. The real joy is that hundreds, if not thousands, of places which are normally closed to the general public are open, with volunteers available to guide you and explain what you are seeing. I have visited a sewage treatment works, a government office building, industrial buildings and many churches. All were of architectural or cultural importance and seldom seen.
Gosh -- this sounds really good.
I am based in London Sept 9-13 with firm plans for just one day. This opens up so many more possibilities (and hours on the computer sorting through options.)
Thanks for sharing.
And, MJ, it gets even better.
London is always off a week from the rest of the UK so if you are a very good boy you can get into things outside of London (all over the country) one week and then a week later do it all over again in London.
Open House London, as it is called, is 19th and 20th of September 2015.
Here is the link for Wales - where it looks like it runs through weekends in September. (I have posted it here because few people seem to notice the Wales forum).

Thanks, James
Maybe few people find the Wales forum because they see the UK as one country and go to England for many things. Our host has divided the country into borders that most visitors (especially from North America) don't notice.
But Wales is better off than Northern Ireland which gets nothing.
It is time for a UK Forum.
