Help planning a Cotswold Way (or Trail) Self-Guided Walk

We did a self guided tour this past summer with Cotswolds Walks. They provided a map booklet and access to a gps style app, as well as luggage transfers. We were happy with the accommodations and included breakfasts. There was the option to pay a little more for ‘upgraded’ accommodations. Although we had the standard accommodations and were pleased with them (not hostels or anything like that). Everything went smoothly and I would recommend.

Hi Susie, We just returned from a holiday that included six days in The Cotswolds. While we were there we utilized a taxi company whose services include transfers and pickups for walkers on the Cotswold Way.

The company is called Cotswolds Executive Cabs. I highly recommend Tina and Steve and their team. If you contact them with an outline of where you would like to go, they know the area so well and I am certain they could help set up places to stay and get you to where you need to be. They would be worth contacting by email and comparing their prices to other companies you are considering. Hope this helps!

I’ve been looking at cycle tours, but a couple of companies that I have found do self-guided hikes as well:

• Cotswold Journeys (5.0 on Trip Advisor)
• Active England (4.8 on TA, LATE NOTE but with some reviews of concern for Cotswold self-guided hikes.)

Like you, I am planning for 2027, so I have no personal experience to offer.

My daughter and I just completed Best of Cotswolds Tour through Cotswold Walks.
Everything was perfect! The accommodations, luggage pickup and delivery and the wonderful sites we saw while walking for 7 days. This is a must company for walk in the Cotswolds.

My husband and I walked the full Cotswold Way (north to south) a couple of years ago using Hillwalk Tours (Ireland-based, I think). We were in our late 60s. and pretty active. We were both very happy with all aspects of the company - great communication with us; extremely detailed information; nice accommodations; no issues with luggage transfers. Really couldn't ask for more. And doing it in 11 days was quite doable, averaging 10 miles/day. If you do the entire 102 miles, I recommend building in two rest days in there somewhere to just hang out in an interesting town or to check out a nearby site. That's the only thing I would change about our trip. It's a wonderful walk - enjoy!
