Help planning a Cotswold Way (or Trail) Self-Guided Walk

Hello!
I’m in the very beginning stages of planning a Cotswold Way (or Trail) Self-Guided Walk for September 2027 for a friend & I and am becoming a little overwhelmed. We haven’t decided if we want to do the 102 mile hike/walk or the 52-mile walk…but that’s something we have to decide on.
We would like to go through a tour company, that would include bag transfers & moderate or better accommodations. We are both in our upper 50s and fairly active.
Can you please recommend tour companies? There are so many out there, traveling to England and the area for the first time…and doing something like this for the first time…we really would like to find the best within our budget. We don’t need luxury…we just don’t want to stay in hostels or similar.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

We did a self guided tour this past summer with Cotswolds Walks. They provided a map booklet and access to a gps style app, as well as luggage transfers. We were happy with the accommodations and included breakfasts. There was the option to pay a little more for ‘upgraded’ accommodations. Although we had the standard accommodations and were pleased with them (not hostels or anything like that). Everything went smoothly and I would recommend.

Hi Susie, We just returned from a holiday that included six days in The Cotswolds. While we were there we utilized a taxi company whose services include transfers and pickups for walkers on the Cotswold Way.

The company is called Cotswolds Executive Cabs. I highly recommend Tina and Steve and their team. If you contact them with an outline of where you would like to go, they know the area so well and I am certain they could help set up places to stay and get you to where you need to be. They would be worth contacting by email and comparing their prices to other companies you are considering. Hope this helps!

I’ve been looking at cycle tours, but a couple of companies that I have found do self-guided hikes as well:

  • Cotswold Journeys (5.0 on Trip Advisor)
  • Active England (4.8 on TA, LATE NOTE but with some reviews of concern for Cotswold self-guided hikes.)

You will find more on line, of course - as you have found.

Like you, I am planning for 2027, so I have no personal experience to offer.

My daughter and I just completed Best of Cotswolds Tour through Cotswold Walks.
Everything was perfect! The accommodations, luggage pickup and delivery and the wonderful sites we saw while walking for 7 days. This is a must company for walk in the Cotswolds.
